The Art of Renewal

Dermal Fillers at MD Optimal Health & Aesthetics

As our skin ages, we lose volume in our cheeks, jawline, and have increased skin laxity. Dermal fillers are a non-surgical way to restore lost volume while creating a more youthful and subtle appearance.

Melissa Donelson, CRNP, brings 30 years of medical expertise to every injection, specializing in the RHA (Resilient Hyaluronic Acid) Collection. Because Melissa manages every aspect of your care herself, she develops a deep understanding of your facial anatomy to deliver results that are consistently elegant and authentic to you.

Flexible Support for Natural Movement

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to replace the volume that naturally diminishes as we age. While there are many types of fillers, Melissa primarily utilizes the RHA Collection, the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers for dynamic wrinkles and folds. RHA fillers are designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movements.

Fillers can be injected with little to no discomfort. Typical areas of filler placement are the cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, temples, and lips. You will see results immediately, but the best results will be seen in about 2-4 weeks. Always make sure you are scheduling at least 1-2 months ahead of an important event. There are numerous types of fillers on the market, but here we love to use the exclusive RHA collection for the best results

Your Personal Recipe For Radiance

What Is the Dermal Filler Procedure Like?

Your treatment day begins with a thorough, one-on-one consultation with Melissa in our private Columbia office. She will carefully evaluate your facial structure and skin elasticity while you talk and move your face naturally to develop a personalized treatment plan.

After cleansing the area, Melissa uses a gentle touch and specialized techniques to precisely place the RHA filler into the targeted areas. Most fillers in the RHA Collection contain a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Melissa keeps meticulous records of your treatment "recipe," ensuring that every future visit builds upon your aesthetic goals with impeccable continuity.

Refine Your Signature Look

What Conditions Can Dermal Fillers Address?

Dermal fillers are remarkably versatile, allowing us to restore structure and smoothness to the areas of the face that lose volume or develop deep folds over time. Whether you are looking to soften a specific line or restore an overall youthful contour, we can customize your plan to target a range of concerns, including:

  • Nasolabial Folds: Often called smile lines, these are the deep creases that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
  • Marionette Lines: These vertical lines run downward from the corners of the lips, sometimes creating a persistent "sad" or tired expression.
  • Midface Volume Loss: We can restore the youthful apple of the cheeks and soften the hollows that often develop under the eyes as we age.
  • Lip Definition and Volume: Fillers can subtly enhance the shape of the lips, smooth vertical perioral lines, and restore a soft, hydrated fullness.

What Are the Benefits of Dermal Fillers?

One of the most satisfying aspects of dermal fillers is the instant gratification. You will walk out of your appointment with visible improvements in facial volume and a noticeable softening of deep lines. By using the RHA Collection in combination with expert injection techniques, we ensure your results look natural in motion. You won't have to worry about a frozen or overfilled look because the filler integrates seamlessly with your skin’s architecture. Hyaluronic acid fillers from RHA can last from 9 to 15 months, depending on the treatment area. Many patients enjoy their refreshed appearance for over a year before needing a maintenance treatment, making dermal fillers an easy way to keep you looking refreshed.

Personalized Guidance for Your Goals

Who Is a Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are an excellent option for people looking to reverse the signs of aging or add structure and support to their face. Dermal fillers offer support to the face that has volume deficits from the aging process, sun damage, or weight loss. They can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while contouring and shaping the face to create a more youthful, defined, and symmetrical appearance. FDA-approved dermal fillers offer a safe, effective and minimally invasive solution.

Dermal Filler Recovery & Results

Recovery

The recovery process for dermal fillers is generally very straightforward. You may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. This is a normal part of the healing process and typically resolves within a few days. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sun or heat exposure for the first 24 hours. To ensure the best results, you should avoid massaging or putting significant pressure on the treated areas for a few days while the filler settles into place.

Results

While the initial lift is visible immediately, your final results will emerge over the next two weeks as any minor swelling subsides and the filler integrates with your tissues. Patients often report feeling a significant boost in confidence as they see a more youthful, rested version of themselves in the mirror. Depending on which RHA product Melissa selects for your specific "recipe," these results can last anywhere from 9 to 15 months. We will work together to monitor your results and determine the best timing for a touch-up to maintain your optimal look.

There is always a chance of bruising or bleeding with any injection procedure. For this reason, we prefer clients to book tox and filler appointments at least 2-3 weeks before any special event. You can always take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to injections to help prevent brusing.
